Benefits of Sun Blocking Window Film
- Energy Savings: One of window film’s most popular benefits is the energy savings it provides. During the summer months, it reflects sunlight away from your windows to keep your home cooler. When winter arrives, window film can keep your home warmer by reflecting heat back into it.
- Protection: Window film is incredibly durable and can prevent scratches on the glass.
- Aesthetic Appeal: Applying window film to your home’s windows gives them a consistent appearance, which enhances their curb appeal.
The Limitations of Window Film
- Window film can’t provide privacy during the day and night. The amount of light reflecting from a surface determines how well you can see past it. During the day, reflective window film prevents people from seeing into your home. When the sun sets, privacy is significantly reduced.
- It won’t fix drafty windows caused by structural issues like loose frames or broken sashes.
- After you apply film, your windows won’t be unbreakable. Window film can help prevent glass from shattering across the room if it does break, but it won’t stop it from breaking.

Choosing a VLT Percentage for Your Window Film
VLT (visible light transmission) percentages indicate how much light will pass through the film. A higher percentage offers less tint and more visible light, while a lower rate has more tint but allows less light to enter a room. Hüper Optik™ window films are available in a wide range of VLT options.
